Planning a trip

It’s not always easy knowing where to start when thinking about planning a trip. Do you buy a guidebook? Do you Google it? Do you just book a flight and hope for the best?

I’ve done all of the above. and with varying results. I do recommend that at least once in your life you book a flight with zero plans of what you will do upon landing, however, usually, we all want the comfort of knowing we will have a place to sleep and at least a vague idea of where we can find a cold beer.

If it’s a city break you’re thinking of, check out my ‘a weekend in…” guides, with recommendations on everything from hotels and restaurants to the local attractions not to miss. If the sunshine is what you’re craving, then head to my ‘beach breaks‘ section for the best destinations for a guaranteed tan, whatever time of year! Finally, if you’re seeking an action packed trip full of excitement, browse my ‘adventure‘ pages for some inspiration.

In this trip planning section I’ve also includedย sample itineraries (many link from the trip pages too) for those of you who like to follow a tried and tested path.

I will be frequently updating this area of the website with hints and tips on everything from how to find the lowest airfares through to the destinations that are set to be the next biggest thing. Watch this space…
