Greece

Every summer I visit a new Greek island with my sister. From May-September, you can all but guarantee blue sky and bright, hot sunshine every day. It’s rare we see a cloud.

We often book these holidays as package deals, purely because it works out cheaper when adding up a hotel, flights and a transfer to whatever obscure part of our chosen island we’re heading to.

I’ve researched a lot of resorts on Greek islands over the years; always looking for somewhere with a great beach, plenty of restaurants, tavernas and bars to keep our evenings occupied and yet somewhere that still holds its authentic Greek charm (read: no strips with teenagers falling out of clubs at 4am). It sounds like I’m asking a lot, but I’ve found that Greek islands are nothing if not diverse, and whilst most of them do have the strips mentioned above, they also have plenty of sleepy resorts perfect for kicking off your shoes and sinking your feet into warm sand, not a drunk 18 year old in sight.
